Here’s a question you never want to hear from a potential customer: “Are you insane?!”
Unfortunately, that’s exactly how “Dave”, a Purchasing Director with a major corporation, described a recent conversation he had with a supplier.
And after he explained the situation, I couldn’t help but agree with him.
You see, Dave is the head of purchasing… responsible for dishing out millions of dollars for his supplies and materials. Wouldn’t you think that any supplier would jump at the chance to get a piece of that action?
But not the supplier he talked to. Instead, this supplier shocked him by refusing to connect to his e-procurement system.
Insane.
Especially when you consider that recent breakthroughs allow anyone to connect to any e-procurement system fast, easy, and cheap.
I mean, who wouldn’t invest a few hours of time, and less money than it takes to take out an ad in some magazine, to start taking his share of millions?
But it’s understandable… sort of.
It comes down to education and awareness. You see, most small to medium sized businesses haven’t been exposed to what it really takes to be successful doing business online… especially when it comes to e-commerce. They simply aren’t aware of their options.
Start connecting to buyers that are literally looking for you…
It’s actually astonishing how many suppliers aren’t aware of this concept.
I can’t tell you how many conversations we’ve had with buyers and purchasing directors like Dave, and they all say the same thing; “I wish we could get more suppliers plugged in. It would make our lives a lot easier.”
So the real question is; are you going to be one of the suppliers that actually do something about it?
The first step is to get educated about how simple it is to “play ball”. Once you understand what you’re missing, and how simple it is to fix, you can become one of the ‘sane’ suppliers that purchasing managers are looking for.
The good news is that you can do that quickly, easily, and for free – simply by having a conversation with any of our in-house e-business/e-commerce experts.
But no matter how you choose to go about it, the important part is to get connected. Just this one simple enhancement has been a total game changer for many forward thinking suppliers.
